Messi confirmed to make the trip to Jamaica
Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has confirmed that Argentine icon Lionel Messi will travel to Jamaica for the second leg of Inter Miami’s Concacaf Champions Cup tie against Jamaican champions Cavalier at the National Stadium tomorrow.
Messi was notably absent in the first leg as the forward watched from stands as Inter Miami downed Cavalier 2-0 at the Chase Stadium.
Speaking today in a pre-game press conference, Mascherano said Messi will make the trip and the club will make a game-day decision on whether he takes to the field.
"Leo is in the squad. He is going to travel, and tomorrow we will decide on the day of the game what is best, whether he starts, whether he waits and comes on later. We will see how it goes.”
Messi has not featured in Inter Miami’s last three games as the club rested the player due to load management concerns.
The second leg is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
